How to use new kernel on BBB
by Jos Vos
Hi,
How do I switch to using a new kernel on the BBB?
After "yum update" I have installed:
kernel-3.11.6-301.fc20.armv7hl
kernel-3.11.9-300.fc20.armv7hl
But according to "uname" it's still booting the old one.
Thx,

I've successfully gone through the install / startup with that image,
using a serial console cable. It just worked.
I used F20 Beta on an x86_64 system with the Adafruit USB to TTL serial
cable.

Installing Fedora-Arm ??
by Mickey
I have installed fedora-arm-installer on my Fedora 18 PC and I want to
install Fedora-KDE-armhfp-19-1-sda.raw.xz on a 32GB SD micro card.
I have Formatted the SD card to a fat32 partition and and have copied
Fedora-KDE-armhfp-19-1-sda.raw.xz to the SD card /dev/sdg1 and from my
PC I run fedora-arm-installer and selected sdg1 to install .raw.xz but
after it says Install Complete nothing is installed on SD card. and if I
umount card from PC and plug it back in
to PC it won't remount card in Fedora PC.
I have to run Windows7 and it tells me I have to Format card, It was
originally formatted in Windows7 to fat32
Here is a Error message I get from fedora-arm-installer while doing a
install;

Performance on BBB
by Jos Vos
Hi,
For a simple first impression of the performance (and because for me
Python performance is important), I used pystone.py on the BeagleBone
Black (http://svn.python.org/projects/python/trunk/Lib/test/pystone.py).
Fedora:
Pystone(1.1) time for 50000 passes = 10.9073
This machine benchmarks at 4584.1 pystones/second
Debian:
Pystone(1.1) time for 50000 passes = 4.38
This machine benchmarks at 11415.5 pystones/second
Is there a good explanation for this?

arm-temp.ausil.us is shutting down
by Brendan Conoboy
Hi everybody,
Dennis's email server is currently migrating so I'm sending this for
him. The system we did aarch64 bootstrap on, arm-temp.ausil.us, is
shutting down. If you're currently using this system to retrieve
packages you'll want to update your yum configuration to use
http://arm-temp.ausil.us/pub/fedora-arm/stage4/ instead.
Much thanks to Dennis for hosting the armv8 bootstrap coordination
server- we couldn't have done it in the open without him. Rawhide
builds on koji are now commencing.

Kernel issue with Fedora 20 on a BeagleBoneBlack
by Steve Underwood
Hi,
I have been using the betas of Fedora 20 on a Beagle Bone Black for a
few weeks, without trouble. After a "yum update" this weekend I keep
getting lockups after I try to slogin from the Beagle to another
machine. When this happens I get the following in /var/log/messages. So
far it seems to only be an attempt to make an outgoing network
connection which triggers this. I've been doing complex things within
the machine, like compiling large packages, without problems.
Regards,
Steve
