who is handling Blender 2.5 packaging?
by Onyeibo Oku
Yay! now running rawhide on an external drive and loving it
Okay, from the arts perspective the UI on most applications still sucks
... mainly because of faulty fonts settings. I am also reading up on
how to tweak those, any pointer is helpful. I decided to try Blender
2.5 from fedora repository (felt neat to have it there ... have been
building mine for months now). Hmmm .... it installs alright but loads
partially. The terminal says
bpy: couldnt find 'scripts/modules', blender probably wont start.
ImportError: No module named bpy_types
ImportError: No module named bpy_types
pyrna_srna_ExternalType: failed to find 'bpy_types' module
ImportError: No module named bpy_types
ImportError: No module named bpy_types
pyrna_srna_ExternalType: failed to find 'bpy_types' module
..... blah ... blah
That is one design application that is not behaving in yet for F15. Any
ideas where this information will be more useful? Thanks for not
feeling pissed ... I know this is not purely design talk.

Gpick color picker
by Máirín Duffy
Hi!
Ryan Lerch redented a post about gpick which is a floss color picker
tool:
http://libregraphicsworld.org/articles.php?article_id=31
http://code.google.com/p/gpick/
I just built and installed it on Fedora 14 and it's pretty nice. I added
it to the package wishlist too, so if you know anybody who can do
packaging you might want to talk to them about the possibility of
packaging it :)
http://ur1.ca/3do44
If you want to try it yourself here's the steps I took to make it work:
- Download the tarball
http://code.google.com/p/gpick/downloads/detail?name=gpick_0.2.3.tar.gz&c...
- Expand the tarball (Right click, extract)
- In the terminal, go to the expanded tarball's directory.
- yum install scons boost boost-devel flex flex-devel lemon lemon-devel
lua lua-devel dbus-glib-devel -y
- scons
- scons install
It should then appear under Applications > Graphics > Gpick
:) Let me know if you have any trouble building it - copy/paste the
scons error message and we'll figure it out.

Notitie updates
by Emily Dirsh
Hi all,
I just wanted to keep everyone updated. I've managed to squeeze in some
time to work a bit on Notitie. ;) I've *finally* pushed the security
updates I made at FUDcon, and I added a database backend as an
alternative to the file backend it was using. All of which can be seen
on the gitorious repo: http://gitorious.org/remote-image-annotation
What it really needs now is testing! bug reports, and feature requests!
Which can be filed, btw, at the project page on Launchpad:
https://launchpad.net/notitie.
I'll try to get it set up on our test server soon, but I'm not sure when
I'll have time to do it, so if any of the other admins want to get it
set up on the server, go right ahead! :)

Are you guys planning on doing the design suite spin for F15? Spins SIG is
trying to get rebooted with more active participants and the design suite
spin is going to come up as it seems to have been neglated recently.
If someone is interested in attending the meetings are going to be on Mondays
at 2000 UTC in #fedora-meeting-1.
