Improving QA test result submission and organization

Greetings,
As you may know, the Fedora QA plans and tracks test execution against
Fedora milestones using the wiki. While the wiki has proven quite
valuable for content-driven test documentation (e.g. test plans and test
cases), recording test results has it's drawbacks.
First, in our current implementation, it relies on careful mediawiki
table edits. The table edits are too easy to mess up and aren't
tremendously inviting to new contributors.

Second, the wiki-based implementation lacks ability to sort, query and
organize test results. We can use categories for organizing plans and
cases, but this mechanism isn't suitable for results.
As a long-term solution, we'd be looking to a web application. However,
in the short term (now to F12) with limited resources, we're interested
in what off-the-shelf components we can use to help provide a better QA
assessment.
One solution that fits nicely with the current mediawiki setup is the
semantic extension to mediawiki. The laptop.org testers are using this
currently and were kind enough to share their findings
(https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-test-list/2009-February/msg00756.html). One important note from the laptop.org folks was that enabling the semantic mediawiki extension could introduce a performance impact to the wiki.
I'm in the process of setting up a private mediawiki+semantic instance
as a proof of concept. But a few questions for the infrastructure
team ...
* I'm curious if others in fedora-infrastructure@ have experience
with the semantic extension?
* Is there a defined process for reviewing mediawiki extensions
for the fedoraproject wiki?
* Should the semantic performance impact be significant, is
hosting a separate Fedora QA mediawiki (with semantic enabled) a
possibility?

Project plan (Detailed):
A Fedora Directory Server, or a FreeIPA instance, is needed to perform
full testing of SSSD (there is a draft How to test on the Feature Page,
I'll rework that into a better test plan this week). I'm not sure if we
can ask the test day participants to go through the process of
configuring their own instance and even if they had one on their local
machine, it wouldn't allow them to test the online caching feature of
SSSD properly.
There are several options, the best of them is to have an LDAP server
with test data available for the community to test on.
Therefore, I'd like to ask the Fedora Infrastructure team to provide us
with a temporary test box where we could install and configure FDS. The
box would be needed until the test day (2009-04-30), can be removed
afterwards.
I understand that getting a root access for the box might not be
possible - I can provide an install script and an LDIF file that would
bootstrap the FDS instance in that case. However, getting a sudo for
controlling the FDS instance (ldapmodify, restart the service, view the
logs) would be very nice.
Goals:
Provide the test day participants with an easy test environment.

As per the time *before* the test day, it would be handy if we had the
test instance for 1-2 weeks prior to the test day.

Hello Folks!
I'm writing you to let you know about my interest to join the FIG.
My name ist Stefan, I'm 23 Years old, living in Austria/Vienna and
working as a
systems engineer at an Austrian ISP Company (we do a lot of sponsoring
for F/OSS
projects as well ;-). We mostly use Debian/Linux for our business,
but I used
RedHat/Fedora before. ;-)
Currently I have about 6 years of experiance as a system
administrator. I'm pretty
familiar with all sorts of sysop tasks (networking, virtualization,
scripting in
perl/python/bash, ticketing systems, infrastructure automation eg.
puppet/cfengine, ldap, web technoligies, mail, dns, databases,
packaging,
technical documentation, etc).
I couldn't decide on which FIG group to choose yet, but eventually
fedora-web or
fedora-noc would be suitable...

Hi All,
I'm Vinay. I got upto here while trying to fix my installation of Fedora-10.
I've been steady user of Fedora package for a little more than a year. I
like it better, as I learn more in Fedora environment than on other
platforms.
Regarding contributing to the Project, I'm a newbie. I'm interested in core
infrastructure development/maintainance.
I'm comfortable with C, C++, Java. I'd like to learn Python, or Ruby, if I
get a project/task that makes me do it.
At this stage, I'd like to observe the kinds of problems
this(infrastructure) team handles, possibly learn some stuffs, and
contribute where possible.

i have used fedora since the day 10 came out, (its the most awesome OS
ever), and i wanted to say thanks for all the effort you guys put in.
About me: I mainly write programs, but i sometimes do small web things,
i pretty much adaptable to every situation. I have good knowledge of

Brazil, where i mainly work with UNIX/Linux servers administration. I
have LPIC-3 Certification, and have worked with Linux for 10+ years.
My interest in Fedora (Red Hat) has increased recently, since i mostly
used Debian/Ubuntu before. And because of that, I'll have my RHCE exam
on Friday, and i guess i'll be fine! :-)

so i've somelse introducing themselfs, so maybe i should introduce myself
to.
My name is Joerg Stephan and i'am close to 30 years now. Iam from the
south-west of Germany (Saarland if someone wanne know) and i'am currently
trying to finish my study of mathematik and computer science.
I work also as system administrator in a research facility at university.
Ia, using Linux for several years now, startet with RedHat 5.1 some years
ago (maybe 1998 or so) and switched over to some other Unix/Linux
Distributions since that. Now i find Fedora the right place to sattle down.
I'am working on:
Nagios Systemmonitoring and building plugins in python and perl.
Automation scripts as hostlist and configuration using m4 and python.
Administration Vmware, PostgreSQL and MySQL DB, several Servers (dhcp,
apache, tomcat, samba, ltsp etc)

Hello folks,
I have been a fedora user for a couple of months now and I would like
to thank you all for this wonderful distro! About me - I am a
programmer, working mostly in the systems programming domain. I am
quite comfortable with C/C++ but not so much with Python or with bash
scripting. I would like to help out with something where I can pick up
one of these two. I have done projects with Python, (mostly to avoid
Perl ;) ) , but am far from being a native.
I unfortunately will not be able to attend the meetings on Thursday
but I will hang out in IRC to try to get a feel for the current
action.

I want to change a TRAC's workflow.

Hi,
I would like to include two more resolutions to "resolve as:" field
of the freemedia trac[1].
my questions are:
1. Does all the trac use same trac.ini? I can find only one trac.ini by $locate
2. If yes, what may be the possible way to change only this particular
trac's behaviour.
If not, where is the particular trac.ini file stored? And do I have
access to it or should I file a ticket?
