Meeting Agenda Item Introduction: Antonette Caldwell
by Antonette Caldwell
Hi all,
I first came across Fedora back in 2016. I was introduced to Fedora in my Linux course. I have been interested in computer technologies for nearly have my life, and I've done web development, as well as an internship with a software development company.
My programming skills varies. I started with Java back in 2008, and then Python 2014. I took a hiatus for about two weeks, and then I took C++ course. I started web developing in 2015 and have been active since then, but no real steady work, like work experience with a company. About 2016-2017, I started looking at projects that I can contribute, because I want to learn the ins and outs of Linux and how it works. I tested out different variants of linux distros, and I ended with Gentoo, Fedora and Ubuntu.
I do not have any certifications at the moment, but I am aiming for one of the pentest certification and as well as several Linux certifications from LPI. I want to go into a DevOps role, and I would like to learn more about how it all works.
Thank you for taking the time to reply my introduction.

Meeting Agenda Item: Introduction Joey Engel
by Joey Engel
Hello all,
My name is Joey, and I'm excited to contribute to the Fedora Project. I'm located in Ohio (UTC -5) and my irc handle is armnhmr.
I recently obtained my RHCSA, and will graduate with a BS in IT this Spring. I'm very interested in systems administration, and have some experience with networking, virtualization, bash, and python. I'm reading through the System Administrator guide and open tickets to see where I can help out.
Cheers,
Joey

Future plans about fedmsg
by Mikolaj Izdebski
Hello,
Today I've looked into porting Koschei from fedmsg to
fedora-messaging. Unfortunately I've encountered problems that prevent
me from progressing. Most importantly our RabbitMQ servers are not
accessible from outsides of Fedora infrastructure VPN. Moreover, all
clients must authenticate with a TLS certificate, even pure consumers
that don't intend to publish any messages. For these reasons I've
decided that upstream Koschei project will keep using fedmsg for
consuming messages. For publishing I'm still considering
fedora-messaging as authentication in this case is expected.
My main questions are:
What are the plans regarding our fedmsg deployment?
Are we planning to have it continue to run in parallel with
fedora-messaging in foreseeable future?
If not, then will at least fedora-messaging to fedmsg relay keep to be
maintained?
Also, is there a list of advantages of fedora-messaging over fedmsg
available somewhere? I'm wondering if there are any significant
advantages that would justify the effort to port Koschei and other
software I maintain away form fedmsg.
