MirrorManager will recognize you're excluding that directory, and won't try
sending traffic your way.
Worst case, yum _does_ try it, gets the 404, and tries the next mirror.
Please exclude whole directories, not a subset of the files therein. MM only knows about
directories when deciding a mirror has a file or not. No directory == no file.
Thanks,
Matt

Subject: Oxford mirror, file count per directory limitation
Hi, I am looking into an issue with our popular Fedora mirror here at the University of
Oxford (UK).
Our Fedora mirror area is stored on OpenAFS and that has a limit of around 21,000 longish
file-names per directory, and this directory recently had more than OpenAFS could
accommodate:
/pub/fedora/linux/updates/18/x86_64/drpms/
We are considering excluding that directory from the mirror.
Please let me know whether this is going to have a large impact, or whether you have other
suggestions.
