Adding rsync support has occasionally been a topic in the past, but
right now, mirror.switch.ch is essentially running in "maintenance mode
only" - i.e. we are not adding new features or new mirrored packages etc.
Depending on decisions expected later this year (taken at the management
level), we might decide to revamp the site somewhen in 2016 - it's
running on relatively rusty hardware, and we would very likely also
switch away from the current OS. rsync would certainly be on the todo
list for that new system.
From what I understand, MirrorManager is now crawling the
mirror.switch.ch Fedora content via HTTP, so does this mean that we can
disable the cron runs of report_mirror (with submission to
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mirrormanager/xmlrpc)? Or does the
report_mirror date still serve any purpose?
