kde kicker crashes
by BRUCE STANLEY
I have been having kicker crashes now and then
on FC4 when using the KDE desktop.
It seems to occur whenever I run the 'Control Center'
program to change things.
Example: use control center to change the stye and
colors used by KDE.
Then changes take effect ok, but when I
log out, the kicker crash occurs.
When I log back in, all the changes I made
are still there and KDE acts like nothing
ever happen.
I have applied all the kde updates
(e.g kdebase, kdelib, kdegraphics), arts and alsa
updates, and the xorg updates found on the FC4
download site.
Note: other types of changes can be made in the
control center, and kicker crashes may
also occur.
Has anyone else been having problems with kicker?
ps: yes I re-created my ~/.kde dir after updates
were applied.

Supported PCI Wireless card
by Reuben D. Budiardja
Hello,
Does anyone know where I can find a list of supported PCI wireless card for FC
4 ? I am looking to buy a cheapo PCI Wireless card for an old desktop, but I
want to have something that will work out of the box with FC 4 (ie. I don't
really want to deal with ndiswrapper, etc).
Thanks.

Re: Newbie: Mozilla and Firefox windows "disappear" under FC3 2.6.11
by Clive@Rational
Some diagnostic information I have found when Mozilla
fails under Linux Fedora 2.6.10 / 2.6.11
I do not have the skills to diagnose anything from
this
Should I post the info on some other list?
Thanks
Clive

Captive Environment
by GaryCarr
We would like to set up an account with a limited, captive
environment. Basically we want the account to run an application when
a user logs into it, and limit the user to only interacting with the
application program.
Any ideas, or suggestions about where to look for information on
doing something like this?

mptbase/mptscsih & FC4 on IBM xSeries 365
by Pier Luigi Rotondo
I'm trying to install FC4 on an IBM xSeries 365. The box has an
onboard LSI1030 SCSI controller and two 73.4 GB SCSI drives set up as
RAID-1.
RHEL AS 3 installs fine while FC4 does not recognizes the SCSI
controller and hangs during the installation. I noticed that RHEL
loads the mptbase and mptscsih drivers, therefore I tried to pass
linux mptbase mptscsih as FC4 installation parameters, but with no
success.
Any suggestions?

how to start kde
by Gavin Li
I changed start default runlevel to 3
and I want to start KDE after login, so I input command startkde, but it
failed, can't found display, etc
Another question: if runlevel is 5, how to setup to start kde not gnome in
that login window, It can't remember my last time login settings.
BTW, I installed both gnome and kde. the kde desktop icons will disappear if
the fist time login is login to gnome. but it will be ok if the first time
is login to KDE just after install. It happens in most of the FC release.

Intel 915 Motherboard and sound
by Deboo ^
How to make Intel 915 boards inbuild sound card work with Fedora? Does
compiling the latest kernel support this board? These boards seem to have
some Realtek sound chipset. I searched the net and someone said I just need
alsa and no need to recompile the kernel. But alsa sources readme says that
in order to install alsa, I need the kernel sources. What do I need to do?
Is there any other way to make sound work on 915 boards?
Regards,
Deboo

ATI Livna driver package
by Claude Jones
I just downloaded and installed the new kernel, and rebooted. No problem.
During reboot, I got the expected message that my NTFS driver failed to load
because of the missing kernel-module. I was expecting a similar message from
ati-fglrx but no, no message. When I go to system settings/more system
settings and click on the ATI-fglrx settings, the GUI opens right up - in
times past, I would get the missing kernel-module message on reboot for
ATI-fglrx, and the settings GUI wouldn't open or would open with errors. What
gives - did I miss something? Is an updated kernel module no longer necessary
for the ATI driver from Livna?
