No. Never had anything like that happen, and I've been using Fedora as my primary OS since Core 3.
How did you "install" Acrobat Reader? Did you use yum and the Adobe repo? How did you download the other programs that you didn't install? Yum? Or did you download the rpm's directly from a non-repo site?
Really, since you just installed 12, save yourself a lot of time: Do a clean reinstall of 12 overwriting everything. At the first boot, before updating, disable selinux, then in the terminal of your choice: enter
'su -'
give the root password, and do your 'yum update'. After completing, set up the other repos that you want, and install your other apps. The following link will help a lot:

I have there a lot of temp files but i dunno which ones can be safely wiped,
and it is very time comsuming job, too.

Connect Evoltuion to Exchange server 2007 via MAPI,

Unable to connect evolution mailer to exchange server 2007 via MAPI is
a ongoing problem. Previously, evolution always crashed at
authentication when creating a exchange-MAPI account. Yesterday, after
some update on evolution and its plugins, I tried and found it moved
a bit further. It did not crashed at the authentication when creating
a MAPI account, but always failed in authentication. The User, PAsswd
and server name are right, because I use the same set of parameters as
in MS outlook.

Changing Permissions to The Audio Device

I've been using MP3Act, an AJAX based web application that allows you
to organize your music centrally.
The thing is, I've been using the application partially being limited
to streaming mode only.Mp3act has a jukebox
mode too that allows the user to play directly from the web page. In
the installation documentation the user needs
to "set the permissions of the audio device to be writable by the apache user".
I do not know how to do this, does anyone have any ideas or theories
regarding this.

video problems on dual-link monitors upon reboot on F12

For about a year I've been seeing this problem pop up occasionally under
F12 (and F11 before that). When the kernel or Xorg changes there is a
high probability of a reboot leaving the dual-link monitor in a slightly
messed up state. The video looks like there are several superimposed
frames with perhaps a half inch registration problems (at 100dpi).
Doing a shutdown and restarting with the power button clears up the
issue. I guess some state isn't being correctly re-initialized by a
reboot, but once cleared by actually powering down, will work.
Is anyone else with a dual link monitor seeing this? Are there any
kernel or xorg switches to clear more framebuffer state on startup?

chromium install problem

Trying to install the latest
chromium-5.0.360.0-0.1.20100322svn42211.fc12.x86_64.rpm I'm getting a
dependency requirement of about 60 Lib files that needs to also be
installed.
Is there a easier way of installing these lib files than one at a time.
I downloaded chromuim and did a rpm -ivh
chromium-5.0.360.0-0.1.20100322svn42211.fc12.x86_64.rpm to install.
The updated V8 has been installed.

Slow Network

Hello,
Since two or three days, my network connection seems to have become
much slower. Loading websites with Firefox now takes a mutliple of the
time, and I am having sporadic "no mirrors found" errors with yum. I
am running F12 on a Dell Latitude D820 laptop, and I am connected by
wire to a router. There has been no noticeable change on two Windows
machines connected to the same router. All machines connect via DCHP.
What can I do to diagnose or fix the problem? Thanks!

Why does opening the calendar ask me for a password?

Kernel BUG crash + photo 2.6.32.10-90

Hi. Yesterday I updated to kernel 2.6.32.10-90.fc12.i686. When booting,
I got this BUG (likely reported by udev in the photo):

Now I'm booting by choosing previous kernel on Grub
(2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686). At first, felt like a disk error, maybe others
are formatting!
Is there any workaround? Anyone got the same? Must I file it with
Bugzilla, if no one else got the same?

Ok. This is how it goes.
First of all, I really don't recommend running anything (including mplayer) as
root. You have been warned! That said, maybe mplayer *does* have the required
codec installed, but not in root's path, for security reasons. So you might
want to try it out as a regular user.
Second, mplayer seems to know about this type of video, and what codec is
required:

So what you need is to find the file vp7vfw.dll somewhere, and put it somewhere
where mplayer can find it, like in /usr/lib/codecs or /usr/lib64/codecs
(depending on your arch). You can download the codec .exe installer for
Windows directly from On2 website:

After you have downloaded it, you need to unpack it somehow, typically running
it under Windows (or under wine, you'll find the vp7vfw.dll inside
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ directory after installation of the .exe
package). But since your Windows already plays the file without problems, my
bet is that the vp7vfw.dll is already there somewhere, do a search on in under
Windows system files, and you'll probably find it. Copy it over to Fedora and
put it into the above codec directories.
Third, it seems that you are running 64bit arch, which might present itself as
a tad little problem, since the .dll file is 32bit and will not work in your
environment. What you need to do is to
(1) do a "yum remove mplayer"
(2) download the 32bit version from here:
http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/releases/12/Everything/i386/os...
(3) do a "yum localinstall mplayer-1.0-0.111.20091029svn.fc12.i686.rpm"
(4) make sure that the vp7vfw.dll file is in /usr/lib/codecs directory
(5) play the movie
Of course, installing 32bit mplayer on 64bit machine might be something you
don't want to do, but AFAIK there is no way to make mplayer (or any player)
use the 32bit windows binary codecs if it was compiled for 64bit arch.
I hope that covers it. Works on my machine at least (32bit mplayer on 64bit
F12/KDE). ;-)
