startlxde does not start in text mode
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
I am trying to start lxde from a text session.
startlxde does not do anything if there is not other X session running.
If there is a X seesion running, then I get:
Openbox-Message: A window manager is already running on screen 0
g_dbus_connection_real_closed: Remote peer vanished with error:
Underlying GIOStream returned 0 bytes on an async read
(g-io-error-quark, 0). Exiting.
What should I do?
Thank.

For Fedora 18 the 'usr' tree should be on the root partition. I think
that's clear. See [0] and [1] for details and justification.

Honestly I would recommend a repartition and reinstall. Sorry that's not
a great answer, it's just what I would do. I'm sure that other people on
the list can give much better ideas should you need to perform that
upgrade.
Thanks,
Michael

"_REG", ACPI problem
by Wilbert Isaac Cortés González
Well, hi to everybody, a few days a go I was trying to install Fedora 18 in a Toshiba Satellite, but for my surprise I got this error message
after I made boot from the DVD: "Fail in evaluating the _REG object of
EC device. Broken bios is suspected"; I tried a few of "solutions", but I didn't succeed, with those, so my question is: is there any real
solution?

installation issue 1
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
Thinking about the isntallation issues, I have 2 concerns:
First one.
What should be the size left over the 1st partition of the disk for
the MBR? I may not have enough size.
Is it documented?
Thank.

grub2 cfg errors in 18
by Frank McCormick
Still trying to discover the cause of errors being generated when
grub2-mkconfig is run.
Tne problem first surfaced after a new kernel during a recent update on
Fedora 18. The error was something along the lines of "can't find a
usable template" .
So I tried to manually generate a grub.cfg file using grub2-mkconfig. It
says there are errors in the generated file ..it refers to a line about
TBOOT..whatever that is.
Can anyone offers suggestions ?
Thanks

installation
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
Can this partitioning/formatting be a problem:
mke2fs /dev/sda6 -t ext4 -b 2048 -L boot0
mke2fs /dev/VolGrpSys_DK0/root_usr -t ext4 -b 2048
mke2fs /dev/VolGrpSys_DK0/usr_local -t ext4 -b 2048
mke2fs /dev/VolGrpSys_DK0/usr_lib -t ext4 -b 2048
mke2fs /dev/VolGrpSys_DK0/usr_src -t ext4 -b 2048
mke2fs /dev/VolGrpSys_DK0/tmp -t ext4 -b 2048
mke2fs /dev/VolGrpUsr_DK0/home -t ext4 -b 2048
?
Then the mount point is on / (root_usr)
Thank.
