uefi: What if ...?
by lee
Hi,
what if I got a new mainboard which uses uefi --- and might not even
support disabling or not using uefi --- and wanted to boot?
Booting is from a HP smart array P800. Would that work? Would I need
to do something to get it to work, and if so, what?

Problem with selinux and milter-greylist
by Will Yonker
Hi,
So I'm trying to get milter-greylist working with
selinux
and I seem to have a problem. It doesn't seem to know
what
milter-greylist is trying to access so I can't add a rule to fix
it.Â
Here is what I see in /var/log/message when I try to run
systemctl start
milter-greylist
May 27 12:47:07 dcsnow
setroubleshoot: SELinux
is preventing /usr/sbin/milter-greylist from
remove_name access on the
directory . For complete SELinux messages.
run sealert -l
f008afda-b837-4a7a-ad4e-80562d4ef31c
May 27
12:47:07 dcsnow python:
SELinux is preventing
/usr/sbin/milter-greylist from remove_name access on
the directory
.
*****Â Plugin catchall_labels (83.8
confidence)
suggests  *******************
If you
want to
allow milter-greylist to have remove_name access on theÂ
directory
Then you need to change the label on
$FIX_TARGET_PATH/>Do
# semanage fcontext -a -t FILE_TYPE
'$FIX_TARGET_PATH'/>where FILE_TYPE is one of the following:
greylist_milter_data_t,
var_run_t.
Then execute:
restorecon
-v '$FIX_TARGET_PATH'/>
*****Â Plugin catchall (17.1
confidence)
suggests  **************************
If you believe
that milter-greylist should be allowed remove_name
access on theÂ
directory by default.
Then you should report
this as a bug.
You
can generate a local policy module to allow
this access.
Do/>allow this access for now by executing:
#
grep milter-greylist
/var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M
mypol
# semodule -i
mypol.pp
In audit.log I
see:
type=AVC
msg=audit(1401209226.129:1909): avc:Â
denied { remove_name }
for pid=8467
comm="milter-greylist"
name="milter-greylist.sock" dev="sda6" ino=652403
scontext=system_u:system_r:greylist_milter_t:s0
tcontext=unconfined_u:object_r:var_t:s0 tclass=dir
Any ideas
on
how I go about finding out what needs to happen here?
Thanks in
advance for your help.

grub problem while trying to configure kdump on F20
by Derrik Walker v2.0
I I think grub isn't seeing my updated changes when I'm setting up kdump
on F-20.
First I installed the the packages /kexec-tools/, /crash/, and
/kernel-debuginfo/.
Next I added crashkernel=128M to /GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX/ the in
//etc/default/grub/.
Then I rebuild the grub config with:
grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg and it creates the file ok.
But, after rebooting, kdump hasn't started and I get the error from
systemctl status kdump:
kdump.service - Crash recovery kernel arming
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/kdump.service; enabled)
Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Mon 2014-05-26 19:15:03

Process: 1308 ExecStart=/usr/bin/kdumpctl start (code=exited,
status=1/FAILURE)
Main PID: 1308 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
CGroup: /system.slice/kdump.service

May 26 19:15:03 tesla systemd[1]: Failed to start Crash recovery kernel
arming.
May 26 19:15:03 tesla systemd[1]: Unit kdump.service entered failed state.
Which leads me to think that my grub.conf really isn't working for some
reason.
This is on an AMD system with 16 Gigs of ram, so available memory is
definitely not a problem.
Could be something else, but in any case I'm sure I'm missing something
stupid ...
Thanks.

printer
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
As I already reported, every time that I turn off the machine, I cannot
use the printer. Every thing seems OK, but no output.
I have to remove the printer and installed it.
I does not work before I make pass:
Queue needs to be reconfigured
"HP-Laser-P1500" is not configured using hp-setup utility. Click remove and Setup to remove
and reconfigure queue.
and then
answer to the questions.
Thank for your help.

video playback frozen with fedora 19 kernel 3.14.4-100.fc19.x86_64
by Patrick Mansfield
Hi -
Playing back video (at least xine and mythtv), I get sound as expected,
but the video just appears as a snapshot - no moving image.
Booting back to kernel-3.13.11-100.fc19.x86_64, it works fine.
Anyone else having issues with 3.14.4 kernels, or know what might be wrong?
I'm using Intel integrated graphics via my motherboard:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th
Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 06) (prog-if 00
[VGA controller])
Video playback on another system with VMware fusion is working fine.

something mess-up with /dev/null permissions
by Pal, Laszlo
Hi,
Recently I've discovered a strange thing... some rule/program or
whatever changing the access rights of /dev/null to
crw-------. 1 root root 1, 3 May 20 11:57 /dev/null
and some of the part of Fedora does not like it :)
After I change back to 666, everything is fine again, however after boot
I have again the "wrong" permission
is this a bug or feature? :) What can cause this? After google the
problem, I can find some very old bug, so maybe it is back again
Any idea?
Thx

Off topic: web hosting sites
by Howard Howell
Hi, everyone,
I know that this is not a use the group is setup for, but I don't know
who else to ask, so forgive my rudeness, and please if you can give me
some ideas. Others might benefit as well. I am not asking for specific
recommendations, just some of the names you have found useful or maybe
not useful, to help me and him to reduce the search from a general
Google search for web hosts.
I have a relative who has a somewhat successful regional business
currently located in Arizona, who wants to get a website set up for his
product(s). He investigated GoDaddy, but didn't seem happy with their
terms and conditions. I'm not entrepreneurial enough to even know where
to start or what to look for. Any advice or recommendations would be
helpful.

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
------------------------------
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
