I do not know what you are trying to do, and do not understand what you are saying. Also you may want to give a shorter subject.
However the above three attempts at mounting are incorrect.
'mount -a' asks to mount everything in /etc/fstab and does not expect the arguments you give.
'mount -o' requires an option, for example 'mount -o ro' will do a read-only mount.
Maybe you want a plain (rw) mount like
sudo mount /dev/sda5 /boot/efi
Assuming /dev/sda5 contains the relevant EFI directory.

i speak abouth these both functionnality because on the system fedora by package javascript with npm i were install " start ", " exploring files " and " settings " so if the lister of program and windows update are broken that is maybe because npm were wear " start " and " setting " although fedora is break however it run with the pen usb unfortunately fedora and windows ten are broken but the e-mail about fedora is too in the list e-mail fedora finally if you can do something for windows ten you are welcome,

SATA optical drives

I'm currently running FC5, will probably upgrade to F7 in a couple of months.
Unfortunately my CD/DVD rewriter appears to have died, before it's
even seen a dual layer disk :'(
SATA hard drives run without problems for me, but now that SATA
optical drives are starting to appear in the shops, would it be OK to
buy one of these and get rid of another wide ribbon cable?
Is anybody already running them with Fedora?

firewalld question

Say I want to drop/reject outgoing connections to a particular destination
address (for parental control). How would I do this with firewalld?
I tried
firewall-cmd --permanent --add-rich-rule="rule family='ipv4' protocol

does show that the rule was added. However, I was still able to connect to
the destination with no issues.
In the past I did that with iptables and I can probably still do that now,
but I think nowadays we're supposed to use firewalld, via firewall-cmd or
firewall-config.
The problem with firewalld is that it has zones, which are defined based
either on network interfaces or on IP sources (or ranges), but not on the
destination IP. See e.g. https://www.linuxjournal.com/content/
understanding-firewalld-multi-zone-configurations . What I need is to
filter based on the destination address.
I found this post saying that it's actually not easy to filter based on
destination address with firewalld, and that we'd have to use firewall-cmd
--direct to inject the filter rule directly into iptables:

But then, the documentation for firewalld.direct says this is deprecated.
What I think needs to happen is this:
1. duplicate the default zone (Fedora Workstation) to, say, Parental
Control
2. In the Parental Control zone add the drop rule to the specific
destinations
3. switch between Fedora Workstation and Parental Control as needed.
How can this be done?

logging in as root

I have uploaded the tar.gz file to my cloud VM and try to use the
system and it will not let me have root privledges. I use 'su' and the
system wants me to enter a password. IDK what the password is. IS there
a way around this?

although rufus is broken fortunately i have created the pen usb with the program from the team fedora for create the installer fedora however the installer keep again the same error for install fedora fortunately i happen i can reduce the part home but the error keep speak always about the misconfiguration about the part efi so why the team fedora often doesn't answer my e-mail finally may you repair the installer ?

I do not know what you are trying to do, and do not understand what you are saying. Also you may want to give a shorter subject.
However the above three attempts at mounting are incorrect.
'mount -a' asks to mount everything in /etc/fstab and does not expect the arguments you give.
'mount -o' requires an option, for example 'mount -o ro' will do a read-only mount.
Maybe you want a plain (rw) mount like
sudo mount /dev/sda5 /boot/efi
Assuming /dev/sda5 contains the relevant EFI directory.

Anyone else seeing libvirtd refusing connections after a day?

I have a dedicated Fedora 38 KVM hypervisor that I use for testing, and
I also use my desktop to run VMs. When I leave the virtualization
manager app open (typically overnight), it has disconnected from the
remote hypervisor and from my local hypervisor. When I double click the
connection, it just hangs. If I restart libvirtd on the hypervisor and
on my desktop, it connects instantly.
Is anyone else seeing this?
