Have you tried tigervnc?
In past have found that tightvnc seemed to work much
better than the tigervnc on windows machines. Did just
look at site, and see they have a new windows set of files
dated 2/5/2023, but doesn't seem to list previous version.
Problem is main machine I need to access is 7 timezones
away at my mom's house. So I've done upgrades of the
tigervnc program in past with no issues, but trying to
uninstall tightvnc and reinstall tigervnc would be
impossible remotely. She is 81, so beyond her skills.
Just that it works with 2.8.63 with no issues with tigervnc
veviewer, but with 2.8.75 it connects and prompts for
password, but then just dumps to command prompt.

A user on a list with different version of linux reported
he saw a flash of remote screen and same drop. Perhaps
has a slower connection to that machine?
