Just for replies to this issue. I try not to assume someone is something and speak before I THINK (e.g. lets say, if I was an ambassador.) Also spotty research does not account for full facts. Sometimes we get in the way and research the items that WE want and present them as if they are final product. I think one must google first (as what was said earlier). Just stating out facts (or more like opinions in this matter) in the previous message does nothing more to credit. Taking it to heart about a person showing a specific sign with the hand is just plain, in my opinion, stupid. And doing research on that is really a waste of time, because in a more general humanistic approach, we really dont care. And for the people who do care, that is a SMALL and Negligible portion, and not a whole population. The very best advice is really NOT to advise others on how to be constructive and back up with scientific work, That is just plain ignorant and to others it may feel like that is a "stuck up" statement, not to mention that in normal and "everyday" conversations, it is NOT practical. Oh by responding to this message and then potentially accusing me of trolling will be grounds for other adverse "effects". To some people this whole conversation looks like two guys who are "smarty pants" are battling it out. If statements from the message I am responding to were to be said to O.G.'s or gangsters or "ghetto" people, then who ever said it would be shot on the spot (trust me, I've seen it happened, since I was part of a gang). Those statements in the message I am responding to were so identical to that person who got shot. To be simple here, putting all this research into a simple hand gesture is really fruitless. We are everyday people. Like the old saying goes, "DONT SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!" I can attest to my previous employment. This guy was the CEO of his business and he said statements just like the ones in the message I am responding to. That shows his attitude stinks and is stuck up. Well, to make a long story short, his business did not make any cash flow and ran out of money to pay employees (including me). He had to shut down business all because he was STUCK UP and WAS TOO NARROW MINDED AND DID NOT LISTEN TO OTHERS and said the EXACT or close to exact statements and had the exact same attitude about the statements of the message I am responding to. He thinks he knows it all but in the end, really sunk in a black hole. I feel sorry for him and its just sad when people like that have to learn the hard way.

To respond to me with an equal attack will also be considered trolling too. Hey we are all free to express opinion and facts. Its a free country.

On Sun, Mar 28, 2010 at 1:54 PM, <ambassadors-request@lists.fedoraproject.org> wrote:
> Just to correct ill-informed minds, I was never an ambassador in the
> first place. So we can happily dispose of the statement from whoever
> stated it.

It's not ill-minded. It's a concern that people around Marketing have
and I can provide solid information, better, scientific production work
regarding the usage of symbology in communication and it's importance.

> Just like one of our friends has pointed out, the last picture on the
> bottom of the flyer with the dude on the far right with the thumb and
> pinky finger extended outwards does NOT represent O.G. or Original
> Gangster.

Really? Google for it.

> I am not sure in other cultures/countries, but here in the good 'ole
> USA, that picture does NOT show any signs of O.G. It means good luck
> and ride high and good waves!! So lets drop this issue and move on.

Unnecessary information and not accurate information. That symbolize has
a name provided before and some recognized cultural associations with
it, from satanism to urban myths. So please try to be constructive, this
is not a private hype, it's something that really matters and that is
described in Marketing Management Scientific Production Work for ages,
for further information, please check Philip Kotler's Marketing
Management, I would recommend the 12th Edition, or any other scientific
database like ABN/Inform.

> Probably a more productive way to address this in the first place
> would be to first advise the marketing team, instead of the whole
> mailing list.....I'm just saying my 2 cents :)

OK, then I will inform the Marketing List one more time regarding this.
And for your information as posted before, I had already submitted a
document with a simple communication matrix that clearly points the
evaluation of cultural differences towards international
audiences/communities or special localized minorities.

Before considering calling me a "ill-minded" person, you should clearly
focus and backup your attack with at least scientific production work.
If not, I'll brand such as trolling.
> Hi!
>
> Great job. It is important to have those flyers, but I have
> just one
> more thing to put in consideration here.
>
> Why don't we say more clearly that Fedora is alternative to
> Windows or
> Mac OS?
>
> People might get bit confused if we just say it is an
> operating system
> based on Linux. There are a huge group of people out there who
> does not
> understand what is an operating system. They know Windows and
> they may
> know Mac or Linux (as one system), but they are not familiar
> with Fedora
> brand/"trade-mark".
>
> I think we should say more clearly the whole thing. Like:
>
> "Fedora Linux OS" or "Linux Fedora OS".
>
> Also I think we should say everywhere that it is _free_
> alternative to
> Windows and OSX. I think this is the only way to get Fedora
> more known
> within "ordinary" and "non-tech" people.
> > > 4 regional FADs and FUDCON leaders. This way we
> could have
> > better
> > > results, as one "global guy" cannot "feel" each
> regional
> > community as
> > > a "regional guy" could do.
> > >
> > > Then again the "4-regions" division could be like
> > fragmentation of the
> > > global community. How about a guy for NA and
> LATAM, and
> > another guy
> > > for EMEA and APAC ?
> > > This seems like a nice idea, as NA and LATAM have
> many
> > things in
> > > common, just like EMEA and APAC (culture,
> proximity, less
> > travel
> > > expenses etc)
> > I agree with Pierros, fun and important. I have to
> add that
> > it is
> > I think that up and running may be true about 15
> hours weekly.
> > But to
> > get there will require a lot more hours each week.
> >
> > Probably I will be a good idea to gather some help
