I have filed bugs against the ones i have noticed in the last 24hrs:

I also noticed that it was doing it when opening a file in gedit via the 
terminal (but only if gedit was previously already opened). If opening 
gedit via terminal without already having gedit open, it works 
correctly. (not sure where to file this one TBH)
