Branding and marketing is one of the known vortices that cause complete departure from rational thinking and outcomes.

No doubt Phoenix, et al. do not do this customization for free. No doubt it's an up sell to OEM marketing who would find generic configuration screens a recurring demonstration of their ineptitude. And communism.
