I think someone proposed (as an addition to UsrMove) having the /bin,<br>
/sbin, etc. symlinks deprecated and to remove them in a couple of<br>
releases. IMHO aside from necessary compatibility (such as the dynamic<br>
loader being in /lib{,64}), there's way too much history involved in<br>
/bin (and to a lesser extend /sbin) to ever consider removing the<br>
symlinks.<br>

More importantly, there's no compelling reason FOR removing them, other<br>
than somebody's idea of neatness. I have no problem removing compat<br>
symlinks when they are no longer needed; I just don't believe that will<br>
ever be the case for /bin, /lib{,64}, and /sbin.<br>
