</div>Yes, it's great that Linux allows people to create multiple ways of<br>
painting a shed, but that doesn't mean it is always a good thing.<br>

OSS is not unique in providing multiple of a XYZ app. Commercial<br>
software has always provided multiple of XYZ apps and has that been a<br>
good thing? For instance: I'm sure you can find multiple music players<br>
for Android phones in the Google store, but does that mean it is a good<br>
thing? There comes a time when a software developer needs to swallow<br>
their pride and work together with another human being to create a<br>
better software instead of forking. It is rare for a fork to succeed and<br>
usually, only succeeds if upstream dies/is dying so in other words the<br>
fork becomes the new upstream and you don't really see it as a fork any<br>
more.<br>

As far as I know, we don't. TextMate would target a different group of people, those who use the NeXTSTEP/GNUStep environment.</div>
