Then I can only conclude that you don't think it bothers people that<br>
much if they click on random things by accident. I know it would bother<br>
me, and I know one Windows user who had to disable tapping because the<br>
cursor kept jumping to random places in the text while she was typing.<br>

Defaults should follow the principle of least surprise. A user who taps<br>
the touchpad and finds that nothing happens will have a good idea of<br>
what to look for in the settings. A user who repeatedly finds herself<br>
suddenly typing in the wrong place may have lots of trouble before she<br>
figures out that it happens when her palm gets too close to the<br>
touchpad. Needing to enable a feature that I know I want doesn't bother<br>
me much. Being forced to grope in the dark for the cause of a weird<br>
problem bothers me a lot.<br>
