CDs in Amarok

OK... This is weird. Seems that I'm having trouble playing CDs altoghether.

First off. Kaffeine is still a KDE 3.x app. So I've tried vlc and kplayer. 
They both work but CD playback starts and stop whenever I do anything on my 
computer. Sound file playback is nice and smooth (ie mp3 ogg etc). Could any 
body confirm this behavior.
