I have been meaning to respond to this thread for a while now however it
kept getting pushed to the side....

I think acpid was added to allow for power off and reboots of a virtual
xen appliance.

Requirements for the AOS are to have yum, dns, and se-linux all working
on startup.

This requires: kernel, dnsclient, yum, and lokkit, in addition to @core.
This pulls in 156 packages and used 439M of space.

The path we went down for the AOS was to not include core or base and
add the packages we needed, as well as exclude a bunch of things we know
we didn't need that get brought in as deps.

The current AOS has 140 pkgs and takes up about 360M.

I know there is a lot more that could be done here, and some packages
still manage to be brought back as deps even thought they are
specificity excluded such as lvm2 via mkinitrd.

I was able to gather some quick data this afternoon and package lists
are attached.

comments welcome....
