It's a bit late in the cycle to be doing much change isn't it? ;)

system-config-network is sometimes handy, but I guess people can
install it if they need bridging or whatever.

I would really like to keep midori in. I know it's bad to duplicate
things, but I use midori day to day and I think it's gotten enough
features that many of the people who are attracted to Xfce will also be
attracted to it.

I think it would be ok to add it in order to get more feedback/user
interest, but it shouldn't be default as you mention.
