problem for traveling to fudcon blacksburg

Hello,

I have a situation that is beyond my control. I work with my sister in a
family business, this is convenient as she covers my duties when I
travel. She has a surgery scheduled, and her recovery time will match
with FUDCon. It is suppose to be urgent, but there is no risk involved.
Yet she will need at least one full week for recovery. I have to cover
for her.

I have been sponsored for FUDCon, and I took one spot that may been use
for another person. I feel bad about it.

I do not know what are the proper procedures to inform that I will be
not going. I not sure what action should I take regarding the money
spent. I am ready to reimburse the cost of the air fare.

I will appreciate any advice on this matter.
