address book problems

Ok, this is really starting to tick me off. I just went in and browsed the 
address book (Tools ->Address Book). I found the email address entry I was 
wanting to use. I close Address Book and go to forward some messages to 
report for spam and try to select or search for the address and it's not 
there. 
This is really pi$$ing me off. Can someone PLEASE explain why you can't get 
there from here???
