What is the nvidia card?

When is the screen turning black?

If you edit the grub/boot to also add '3' so you boot to runlevel 3, do
you get a prompt?

I'm asking because I've had to add:

 quiet vga=794 selinux=0 iommu=soft acpi_osi=Linux

to mine.

The iommu=soft is to get the nvidia/nouveau to work
The acpi_osi=Linux is to get the FN-F8 to switch screens correctly.
