Display resolution 1024x600 in netbook

Fedora 17, netbook, acer aspire one d255e, 1024x600 FAIL!!!!, 800x600 ok
backtrack (ubuntu), netbook, acer aspire one d255e, 1024x600 OK !!!!
in backtrack there is no 'xorg.conf ' file.
why?
