I think it could work if you use the firewire interface. People on FFADO 
make drivers to all kind of firewire gadgets. For MOTU "mark3" systems, 
you can read this thread for more info about the support:

MOTU is know to deny any kind of support to linux community.

For the USB interface, I think that ALSA project people could not make 
it work, as you can see in his supported gadgets vendors list:

Try with firewire and ffado drivers. Hope this helps.
