Paths where installation occurs are completely non-standard.
>From quick look/memory refresh:
 * ignoring of --sysconfdir switch and installing config files to 
   %{_libdir}/visualvm/etc/ 
 * installing non-standard subdirectories into --prefix directory. I remember 
   there was "platform" directory and 2 others (can't remember names). These 
   should be placed into standard subdirectories. Either share or lib or
whatever 
   is appropriate for that data.

That is probably all of it, but since there will be changes in the build
process it will have to be verified.
