For example:

$ pkg-config --cflags --libs drpm
Package rpm-devel was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `rpm-devel.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'rpm-devel', required by 'drpm', not found
