yeah, I think you don't need the alternatives just yet.

If you look at the default Python template (rpmdev-newspec -t python bla), it
basically does the installation twice, Python 3 first, to make sure that the
Python 2 binary that is installed later wins.

So in your case you can just make the symlink point to the Python2 version if
you want, but not having it is probably not a big deal. I'll check the
guidelines again just to make sure.
