 I could reproduce the issue with manual runs of the pptp auth dialog
 before the fix, and could not after the fix.  I also tested a pptp vpn
 connection with the applet and NM by creating a new PPTP connection to
 1.1.1.1, setting a username and password, and verifying that the
 connection started trying to connect to 1.1.1.1 before ultimately failing,
 which means it got way past the execution of the auth dialog.  The
 specific issue as that the auth dialog was not quitting when it should
 have, thus preventing NM and the pptp plugin from even starting the VPN.
