I will try to explain some user experiences, before asking; please be
I noticed that after installing acroread (for evaluation in respect of
default evince) and realplayer (for realaudio and realvideo files) rpm on my
fc7, they stole the mime types associations for pdf and mp3 extensions.
In /usr/share/applications/defaults.list I have now
I presume this impacts only the double click action in browing folders and I
cannot have multiple entries for one single extension, can I?
a) In nautilus file browsing if I press the right button on a file, I get
the context dialog where for pdf I can choose between the default
application (now Acrobat reader), document viewer (evince) or choose another
application. In this latest case I get a list of applications I can choose
from (amarok, archive manager and so on).
Instead in firefox if I left click a pdf link I get the window where I can
choose between saving and opening with default applcation (now Acrobat
Reader) or opening with "Other..."
but in this case I get a file system browsing window and not an application
I have these two questions:
1) where do I define the list of applications listed for a) in nautilus? So
that for example if I install another pdf viewer then I get it listed
together with Acrobat and evince?
2) Is default application for nautilus inherited by default double click so
3) which kind of files do keep the similar configuration for firefox?
4) Could firefox be configured as nautilus proposing applications and not
file browsing, that I think is useless?
