TeXlive installation failure, TeXlive update breaks the TeX installation

Hi,

recently TeXlive was upgraded to 2010. The F12 users that installed
TeXlive 2009 and still had the texlive repo enabled got that as an
update.

This broke my tex system since some 2009 files seemed not to be
updated. I thought I can solve this by completely wiping all texlive
files and make a clean install.

During the installation I got the message:
"  Installieren   : texlive-tex-2010-0.1.3.1415926.16044.fc13.noarch
106/156 sed: kann /usr/share/texlive/texmf/web2c/fmtutil.cnf nicht
lesen: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden"

sorry that it is in German, it says fmtutil.cnf not found. This file
seems to be very essential for the whole LaTeX environment e.g.
if I do fmtutil --missing I get:

"warning: kpathsea: configuration file texmf.cnf not found in these
directories: /usr/bin:/usr:/usr/share/texlive:/usr/bin/share/texmf-local/web2c:/usr/share/texmf-local/web2c:/usr/share/texlive/share/texmf-local/web2c:/usr/bin/texmf-local/web2c:/usr/texmf-local/web2c:/usr/share/texlive/texmf-local/web2c:/usr/bin/share/texmf/web2c:/usr/share/texmf/web2c:/usr/share/texlive/share/texmf/web2c:/usr/bin/texmf/web2c:/usr/texmf/web2c:/usr/share/texlive/texmf/web2c. /usr/bin/fmtutil:
Zeile 377: /texconfig/tcfmgr: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
fmtutil: config file `fmtutil.cnf' not found."

Because of this cnf missing I cannot run pdftex not updmap etc.

Is there something I can do until this gets fixed? (Or have I missed
something?)
