It boots. The browser works. Updates work. But...
When X starts,  pcmanfm --desktop  is not autostarted; the background
consists of text from the boot process, and dragging a window around 
on the screen leaves an ugly trail.  Running  pcmanfm --desktop  for
the first time brings a solid black desktop rather than the default
background image.
