Dear JBG:

Ok, I have installed strace, but I do not know what to do from there!
Please give me command line examples of what to do please?

Sincerely yours,

I installed couchdb on i386 F15 rawhide ( yum install couchdb ) and it
started just fine.

So what you need to do is to install strace and then start couchdb from
command line.

If it fails strace it

It should provide you with the necessary information to debug it further.
