AIUI there's a timeout for encrypted partition mounting; if you don't
type a passphrase within the timeout it'll try and continue boot. I'm
not sure if there's a filter for 'essential' partitions; if there is, it
doesn't include /home. It'd be good if Lennart would provide some detail
on the intentions here in the bug report.

What's in /etc/fstab ?
