Thanks for your advice.

On my laptop this works every time..

Screen flashing
ctrl-alt-F2
root    enter
telinit 3      enter
ctrl-alt-F4
root    enter
startx    enter

still refuses to install hard disk  -  like that since the beginning of 
rawhide
