It *was* the fftw-libs package I was trying to reinstall when I get the
below messages...

Me either - I'm very happy with Fedora overall :-)

I did try the "yum clean metadata all".

I'm just a worry-wart. As long as everything keeps working, I'll just
not worry about it :-) Thanks for your help and time.
