GM is released
Intel announces driver release for last quarter's new gfxchipset XYZ

6 weeks later:
GM plus updates include kernel that includes XYZ video driver

Another 6 weeks later:
Non-tester Joe User installs from GM DVD to his new latest greatest laptop 
with XYZ chipset, which has no native Intel driver support on the DVD, and 
thus requires basic graphics mode to get Anaconda's X going

What should Joe have to do to get native 2048x1152 instead of VESA 1280x1024 
or worse?
