modular X, EMACS uses a humongous font. The font for the buffer can be set
from the options menu but saving the change does not make it
permanent. The 6x13 fixed font works well for displaying the 133
character line printer output from classic scientific programs on a
1280x1024 screen. I can't find a selection to change the font for the
menu. Apparently that would require getting into the lisp files.
