Hace un par de semanas tuve el mismo problema. Lo solucioné usando Eclipse (<A HREF="http://www.eclipse.org">http://www.eclipse.org</A>) para bajar los archivos.<BR>
<BR>
No se cual es la razón por la cual el acceso a CVS falla desde una terminal y funciona desde Eclipse.<BR>
