<p dir="ltr">I am really terrible about remembering people's names and area of involvement, at least before I have talked to someone a few times. It is nice to be able to run a FAS query and be reminded of where I encountered someone.</p>
<p dir="ltr">We have a 'docs' group that is similar. Besides maybe fedorahosted.org:/srv/groups/docs, which is sort of a scratch/training space, it does not provide access to any resources. You get to show participation, and cla+1 things like irc masks, email aliases, voting. IMO groups like this are a good thing, especially if there is room for someone to be active in a given area of the project but no other appropriate FAS group.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Also, people feel ignored if the group is there but their application is not processed. If there is consensus that the group has no use, it may be possible to remove it.</p>
