Ahh, but OOo is supplied in rpms:
[gene at coyote ~]$ rpm -qa|grep penoffic
openoffice.org3.1-redhat-menus-3.1-9420.noarch
openoffice.org3-base-3.2.0-9483.i586
openoffice.org3-calc-3.2.0-9483.i586
openoffice.org-ure-1.6.0-9483.i586
openoffice.org3-dict-es-3.2.0-9483.i586
openoffice.org3-en-US-3.2.0-9483.i586
openoffice.org3-impress-3.2.0-9483.i586
openoffice.org3-writer-3.2.0-9483.i586
openoffice.org3-dict-fr-3.2.0-9483.i586
openoffice.org3-dict-en-3.2.0-9483.i586
openoffice.org3-3.2.0-9483.i586
openoffice.org3.2-redhat-menus-3.2-9472.noarch
openoffice.org3-math-3.2.0-9483.i586
openoffice.org3-draw-3.2.0-9483.i586

So while the argument about FF may be valid to some purists, it is not valid
for the true believers in rpm.

FWIW, FF-3.6.2 from mozilla hasn't appeared to interfere with anything. It
