Broken updates for F12

I can confirm 3 of these:

firefox from 2 days ago (still) won't update on F12.

Furthermore, I had to reboot my system in order to get the thunderbird
update to work right (might be my fault, but I thought I had logged out
and logged back in again.  I was able to run in --safe-mode, but
rebooting definitely allowed me to run as usual).  Since when does a
thunderbird update require a system reboot?
