apoligies for confusing you.
partedmagic can be installed to a usb stick;
http://partedmagic.com/doku.php?id=creating_the_liveusb
partedmagic has clonezilla, all programs are listed at;
http://partedmagic.com/doku.php?id=programs

no such thing as a 'dumb question'. only 'dumb mistakes' by not asking
questions. :-)

bad choice of word on my part. should have said "loop device";
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loop_device
after thinking about that one, 2 choices.
if michael advises against pulling g4l files out of iso image, partition
usb stick. 1 for partedmagic, 1 for g4l, 1 for clone backup.

to mess up a linux box, you need to work at it.
to mess up an ms windows box, you just need to *look* at it.

The installation instructions stated to install Windows 2000 or better.
So I installed Linux.
