I'm not claiming to be a guru, but I don't consider myself a newbie any 
more.  I've been using Linux, off and on, since about '98, and as my 
sole OS since FC6.  I won't go into how long I've been using computers, 
but when I started, I had to use an IBM 029 keypunch.
