Thank you very much sir.  You suggestion works!

I created a ti83.desktop entry:

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Exec=wine /home/students/Desktop/vti\ Folder/Vti.exe &
Hidden=false
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true
Name[en_US]=virtual ti
Name=virtual ti
Comment[en_US]=virtual ti calculator 
Comment=virtual ti calculator

and it starts when I log in.
