I generally just set my e-mail address in /etc/mdadm.conf and leave it
at that. You do get notified if the array goes into rebuild mode. Also
it's good to set root's mail to come to your regular e-mail channels if
possible... /etc/aliases but that sort of requires you to set up smtp on
your system.
