Hummm..... Now I find this "strange".
I had done a "Net" install on this system and it fully updated at install time. As such I had never rebooted. I decided I wanted to plug in a drive to do some "testing".
On reboot, the SD card reader became sdc and the sdd device is gone.
So, I hope you can see your way clear to understand the confusion.
