Does anybody know why Fedora does this?

Huh that's odd ...  on my F19 laptop:

[hogarth ~]$ sudo yum provides "*bin/cd"
[sudo] password for hogarthj:

I'd be very curious as to what rpm -q bash and rpm -V bash result in for
you...
