If you right-click on the file, the menu may offer you options to run or
edit the file.  On my system, if I double click on such a file, a pop-up
appears asking me whether to run it, run it in a terminal, or open it in
an editor.

Your file manager (Nautilus, etc) should have options for what to do by
default, but be aware that the option to open in an editor is a
protection against accidentally running dangerous scripts.
